Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp 6Fattie Review
The shop received a Medium and Large demo back in September and we've had a overwhelming response from the few customers that have taken them. The first two customers to demo them returned to purchase the same model. As far as the component spec, it has a great build for the price. Equiped with a SRAM GX 1x11 Drivetrain and a Race Face Aeffect Crank w/ a 28t narrow-wide chainring. Out of precaution we also installed a Blackspire Bruiser Chainguard on the demo's to protect the chainring. The wheels are Specialized's OEM Traverse 29mm wide rim on their sealed cartridge...
My New Shoes
Recently I needed new mtn. bike shoes and wanted to try some Five Ten Shoes. Preferring to ride clipped in cause I feel it allows me added control while riding I chose the Hellcat because it was SPD Compatible. Every shoe I’ve owned before was more geared to XC Race and Cyclocross. I liked the spikes for running up hill, the micro-adjust buckles and Velcro style strap on the shoes upper giving it the slicker look. Now that I’m not so slick I like the more casual feel of my new Hellcat’s. Five Ten pioneered the rock climbing shoe in...
Shimano Dyna-Sys Review
Top 5 reasons to upgrade to Dyna-Sys: Your chain, cassette, and RD are probably already toast Makes a single-ring setup more practical Less chain slap and fewer dropped chains More momentum and smoother shifts while climbing Having one more is always a good idea Like most folks, we're skeptical about the real benefits of the latest and greatest product innovations. So when Shimano launched their 10-speed MTB drivetrain Dyna-Sys back in 2010, we wondered what one more cog could possibly offer aside from a page of new SKUs and a big ol' headache. But two years hence, we've put it...
JAMIS ALLEGRO X LINE
The ALLEGRO X line from JAMIS is billed as the cross training model from their selection of Street/Commuter bikes. To quote the manufacturer, "In short, the Allegro X gives you want you need to be a weekend hero, seven days a week." In my three years of bombing around on an Allegro 3X (now know as the Allegro X Elite), I've found this statement holds up. While you won't win any races, the Allegro X is more than capable and efficient for 15-20 mile road rides, and with it's wider tires and with a simple flick of the switch on...
2013 Fox Float 34 160
Headlines: 20% stiffer than a Fox 32 Nearly ½ lb lighter than a Fox 36 CTD compression damper Specs: Steerer: 1.5” tapered aluminum Axle: 15mm QR thru Travel: 160mm / 6.3” Weight: 4.3ish lbs Spring: Air Adjustments: Preload, rebound, compression (3 position CTD damper) Riding style: All-mountain rippin’ Back in May, when my new Santa Cruz Nomad showed up at the shop with a hot and fresh 2013 Fox 34 160 (instead of the Rock Shox Lyrik I was expecting), I was surprised…and a bit dubious. What was up with this new fork? And why would Santa Cruz spec such...
